30th August 2018
I hope you all had an enjoyable summer break and we are looking forward to seeing all our students back in Carysfort N.S. on Monday morning!
The building work and our new all-weather play area are now complete and we would like to extend a warm welcome to The Club@Carysfort who will provide before and after school care in the one remaining prefab on the school grounds.
The children can now enter the school via the main entrance on Convent Road or through our new pedestrian entrance at the Avoca Avenue Roundabout. This pedestrian gate will be open at drop off and pick up times. For security and safety reasons access will only be via the main gate entrance during the school day.
Now that the building work is complete all students from Senior Infants to sixth class will line up in the front yard on the concrete in the morning and your teachers will collect you from this location. Junior Infants are to be escorted to their classrooms until you are informed otherwise.
Please remember that the students and their younger siblings must be supervised at all times while on the school grounds before the bell goes at 8.50 a.m. This is not a playtime and no child is allowed bring a ball to play with on the new all-weather playground. Finally we would greatly appreciate it, if all dogs were left at home for the first week of the term.
New students who are joining Senior Infants to sixth class are asked to arrive at the school office at 9.20 am and we will take you to your teacher and classroom.
Junior Infants will be in school from 10-11 a.m. on Monday. Normal school hours will apply on Monday for all other classes so senior infants will go home at 1.30 pm and 1st class upwards at 2.30 pm.
All students will wear their uniform to school on Monday and can start wearing tracksuits from Tuesday onwards on their P.E. day.
Finally may I remind all parents of our Green School status and their commitment to our school’s ‘Safe Travel Plan’. We strongly encourage the children to walk, scoot or cycle to school. If driving is unavoidable please park responsibly and safely. Note that Avoca Avenue has a single white line so parking on the new pedestrian entrance side is not permitted.
Thank you in advance with all of the above and wishing you all the very best of luck for the year ahead!
