I am sure you are all aware that our additional accommodation works are still ongoing but fortunately they are progressing steadily. We are hopeful now that the new building will be handed over to the school by late April 2018. As well as five new classrooms the project includes an additional pedestrian entrance close to the roundabout at the end of Avoca Avenue. The upgrading of our school grounds to include an additional all-weather play area will be completed also as soon as the site works are finished and the prefabs are removed.
The Board of Management is still very much committed also to introducing pre and after school care on site. However, as a result of the building works not yet being finished, it will not be possible for this to begin next term as hoped. The aim now is to introduce the new child care facilities from September 2018.
We had a beautiful Confirmation ceremony on Friday last in our parish church. Congratulations to our 6th class students who were confirmed by Right Reverend Monsignor Enda Lloyd. I want to take this opportunity to thank the priests of the parish, the staff of the parish office, the staff of Carysfort N.S, the fifth class choir, Starbucks Coffee, the Parents’ Association and finally the fifth class parents who all assisted in making this a wonderful celebration for the sixth class children and their families.
Finally, I am looking forward to seeing many of you next Saturday, March 3rd at our Wishing Well Quiz and Disco which promises to be a lot of fun! Tickets can be purchased in the playground before and after school this week from members of the Parents’ Association. All funds raised will be used to develop the all-weather playground.
