Our annual Carol Service will take place on Wednesday, 16th December at 7.30 p.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Blackrock. Children from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes will be part of the choir and will be allocated seating at the front of the church or on the altar. All the children in the junior classes are welcome to attend with their parents. Seating for families will be on a “first come, first served” basis. Please make arrangements to have toddlers and babies minded at home. There will be a collection (evenly shared) for Focus Ireland and St. Vincent de Paul on the night.
Each child will receive a plastic bag from Leopardstown Lions Club on Monday. Please donate an item of food (non perishable) and return the bag to the school before Monday, December 14th. The food will be used to provide hampers for some genuinely needy people in the local area.
Tuesday, 8th December is a holy day of obligation so the children from 3rd to 6th class will attend mass here in the school hall. Fr Delany will be the celebrant.
As a staff we are very appreciative of your generous donations and fundraising efforts in recent weeks. We are very conscious of all the demands on you as parents at this time of year. While we have always appreciated the parents’ and children’s thoughtfulness in giving their teachers gifts at Christmas we request that you forego the tradition this year.
A very successful cake sale and coffee morning was held by the Parents’ Association yesterday. A special thank you to the Parents’ Committee /helpers for organising this event and to Starbucks Blackrock for donating and serving the coffee.
School will close for Christmas holidays on Tuesday, 22nd December at 12.00 mid-day and re-open on Wednesday 6th January 2016 at 8.50 a.m.
On behalf of the staff of the school, I wish each one of you, parents and children, a happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year.
