Principal’s Newsletter December 2019

9th December 2019

Dear Parents,

Just a reminder our annual Carol Service, which the children from 3rd to 6th class sing at, will take place on Thursday 12th December at 7.30 pm in St. John the Baptist Church, Blackrock. All families are welcome to attend this lovely occasion. There will be a collection on the night, the proceeds of which will be shared evenly between Dublin Simon Community and the local Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

A huge thank you from all the staff for your fantastic support of the recent Book Fair.  Through the efforts of the PA and parents, we now have over €3,000 to spend on books for our class and AR libraries.

As part of our continued drive to promote and encourage reading for pleasure, the children will engage in DEAR time each day after lunch break for 15 minutes. (Story time for the infant classes).  This means they will ‘Drop Everything And Read’.  Why not try some family DEAR Time at home during the Christmas break as it is important for children to see the adults around them reading a book too!

Finally, the school will be closed on Wednesday 11th December for staff in-service training.

Le dea-mhéin,

Norma Linehan
